Quatey Wydra
Starting Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching He's a good late inning man, which is when being a pitcher really counts. Wydra can get into trouble with walks, and there's concern about him being able to maintain his stuff over the whole season. He can hit 90 MPH but is too smart to try to get his fastball past most hitters. Sometimes I wish he'd just give up on throwing the changeup, it's like a BP ball! He attacks lefties and righties with similar success.
Defense & Hitting His windup, though, makes him an easy target to run on. Wydra seems distracted after his delivery. He's sometimes out of position, fails to cover a base or doesn't back up throws. Wydra is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Wydra has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Wydra as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook If Wydra doesn't perform, the Retired or Inactive Players won't hesitate to send him down to the minors. I just don't know if The Retired or Inactive Players are ever going to get what they expect out of him.
