Troy Wright
Catcher | Yellowknife Bluenotes
Hitting One thing's for sure, late in the game you're glad you have him on the field. With his ability to hit for average and his sound batting eye, he makes a good No. 2 hitter. Wright usually pounds the ball into the ground to try to get the most out of his speed. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency. He rarely pulls pitches, preferring to shoot line drives to right-center.
Baserunning & Defense Wright has better-than-average speed, and he has made himself into a solid basestealer by developing a quick first step and studying the moves of pitchers. Wright isn't a fluid catcher, but he's not afraid to get dirty and gets the job done. His arm is accurate enough.
2025 Outlook The Yellowknife Bluenotes were smart, they locked Wright up to a long term contract. Wright has impressed at the A-ball level. Look for the Yellowknife Bluenotes to give him a shot in Double or Triple A before the year is up.
