Rupert Solverd
Starting Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching Solverd also throws a screwball. Let's just say he's screwy on the field and off... so watch out for that devastating screwball! He has the ability to coax groundballs, which helps him succeed. Solverd can get into trouble with walks, and there's concern about him being able to maintain his stuff over the whole season. Solverd also has a decent changeup. Dating back to his days in the minors, Solverd has been more effective against righthanders than lefthanders.
Defense & Hitting Solverd expects to be an active participant in the infield defense and does a good job of getting to grounders back up the middle. Though he lacks a good pickoff move, he checks the running game with a compact stretch delivery. Solverd is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Solverd has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Solverd as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook Solverd has below average skills, even for the low minors. One has to expect the Retired or Inactive Players will give him his walking papers before the end of the season. I just don't know if The Retired or Inactive Players are ever going to get what they expect out of him.
