Chance Laronda
Starting Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching God, who doesn't love a knuckler? I saw a slow-motion version of one of his pitches on TV, it's no wonder they're unhittable! Good pitchers have been known to develop this pitch late in their careers just to prolong it by a few years. Laronda is a control pitcher; when he's on he has pinpoint control. Laronda will give up home runs, but rarely with the game on the line. He has an above-average changeup and the ability to throw from a variety of arm angles. Laronda gives up his share of home runs, but is always around the plate and doesn't give up many walks. He attacks lefties and righties with similar success.
Defense & Hitting Laronda has lots of energy. He comes off the mound like a cat and doesn't make many errors. He has quick feet and can catch runners napping at first or second base. Laronda is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Laronda has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Laronda as a pinch-runner on occasion.
