Warren Jent
Starting Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching He produces tons of groundballs with his downward movement. He's got a really stong arm, so he can blow it by you on occasion. Jent can get into trouble with walks, and there's concern about him being able to maintain his stuff over the whole season. He frequently leaves fastballs up in the strike zone, where they get pounded. In his first taste of the majors, he has kept lefthanders in check but wasn't as effective against righties.
Defense & Hitting For a lefty, his move to first base is average at best, and he has a tendency to forget about runners at second, thereby creating opportunities to swipe third. He gets off the mound fairly quickly and his throws to first are hard. Jent is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Jent has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Jent as a pinch-runner on occasion.
