Ken Gossage
Relief Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching God, who doesn't love a knuckler? I saw a slow-motion version of one of his pitches on TV, it's no wonder they're unhittable! Gossage also has a decent changeup. You know, some times I think I can throw harder than Gossage, and that's saying a lot. Gossage has had a tendency to fall victim to big innings. He frequently leaves fastballs up in the strike zone, where they get pounded. He changes speeds well enough to keep righthanders from teeing off on him.
Defense & Hitting Basestealers are unusually successful against Gossage, whose run-stopping fundamentals are otherwise strong. Perhaps it is a result of his increased reliance on offspeed pitches. Gossage is nothing special in the field. Gossage is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Gossage has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Gossage as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook Gossage isn't cutting the mustard in the low minors. It's time for Ken to investigate other career options, like coaching highschool ball. But if you ask me, I'll pass on Gossage.
