Amani Escalante
First Baseman | Retired or Inactive Players
Hitting With his ability to hit for average and his sound batting eye, he makes a good No. 2 hitter. Escalante always has been a line-drive hitter who uses the entire field. He hangs in well against lefthanders' breaking balls, and some of the pitchers he hits best are the southpaw specialists often brought in to face him. He likes to pull the ball, but don't be surprised if he puts the ball the opposite field from time to time. He's a smart batter and takes good note of how the fielders are shading him.
Baserunning & Defense His defense is solid but unspectacular. His arm is accurate enough. Escalante isn't fast, but he's a heady baserunner who rarely gets thrown out.
