Carey Clopp
Starting Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching Clopp can get into trouble with walks, and there's concern about him being able to maintain his stuff over the whole season. Clopp has to keep the ball down, especially against lefties, or he gets hit hard and often. His composure needs work. When Clopp starts getting hit, he gets mad and loses concentration. Dating back to his days in the minors, Clopp has been more effective against righthanders than lefthanders.
Defense & Hitting His move to first isn't very good, but his delivery is fairly quick and he isn't overly vulnerable to the stolen base. A shaky fielder, he's slow to react to grounders and often looks unsure on his throws to the bases. Clopp is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Clopp has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Clopp as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook Clopp flat-out isn't ready for this level of competition. Expect the Retired or Inactive Players to send him down promptly. But if you ask me, I'll pass on Clopp.
